Why It’s Important

Iodine supports coral coloration, tissue development, molting in invertebrates, and overall immunity in reef systems. Iodine enhances blues and violets in corals, strengthens soft tissue, and helps prevent infections and parasite stress. It is essential for proper molting in shrimp and crabs, and deficiencies can lead to failed molts and invertebrate loss. Iodine is removed by skimmers, carbon, ozone, and UV, making regular supplementation necessary.
